Aksakovo
Aksakovo municipality is located in Northeastern Bulgaria, district of Varna. It is the second municipality in terms of area and population in the district of Varna, situated on a territory of 460.54 sq.km. It includes 23 populated settlements and the population is more than 35,000 residents. It has access to the Black Sea with four kilometers of coastline. The town of Aksakovo is situated only 10 km from the sea capital of Bulgaria - Varna.
From antiquity the land of Aksakovo municipality offered favourable living conditions to many cultures. In the Pobiti Kamani locality /the Stone Desert/ situated to the south of the town of Aksakovo, the prehistoric people from the Late Paleolithic dwelled in caves and outdoor villages. The picturesque territories of Aksakovo municipality are rich in places suitable for rural, hunting and sports tourism. Aksakovo has everything necessary for the so-called modern luxury that people from all parts of the world are looking for ever more frequently – clean food, tranquility and beautiful nature.
The unique location of the municipality favours its economic, social and environment-friendly development. On the territory of Aksakovo municipality is located International Varna Airport, which has airline connections to large international airports in Europe and Asia.
Aksakovo is among the first e-municipalities in the country that introduced one-stop service for the business. The administration is among the few digital ones in the country, offering 100% of municipal service for citizens electronically. Sustainable low-tax and low-fee policy has been introduced both for the citizens and for the investors.
Modern social infrastructure has been established encompassing all age and social groups.
The municipality maintains active international exchange and partnerships with twin towns in countries from the EU and outside it. Aksakovo is the founder of the Open City Network in which 12 European towns are members.
Aksakovo is the business heart of the district of Varna. In a short time, the young town turned into an attractive center for Bulgarian and foreign investors. In 2014 it became the first winner of the Best Small Town Award.
TRANSPORT
Aksakovo municipality is secured with air, water and road transport.
The International Varna Airport is located on the territory of the municipality and it maintains airline connections with large international airports in Europe and Asia.
In immediate proximity are the Varna Port Complex, Vara-West Port, Varna-East Port and Varna Ferry Complex, which creates preconditions for development of the economy and building of logistics facilities for many enterprises.
The Hemus motorway passes through the municipal territory and connects Varna with the capital city of Sofia. Cherno More motorway provides connections between the Black Sea cities, as well as fast and convenient access to the Varna-West and Varna-east ports. With its well-developed transport infrastructure, Aksakovo municipality offers permanent transport connectivity between the largest resort complexes on the North Black Sea coast – Golden Sands, Albena, Kranevo and Balchik.
ECONOMY AND GROWTH
The municipality is a traditionally strongly developed rural region. The climate is specially suitable for the growing of cereals and vineyards. The largest greenhouse complex in the district is located in the region of Aksakovo and it offers all the year-round employment to a large part of the population.
Three regions for investment are established on the territory of Aksakovo municipality.
The first one is around the Airport Complex and Hemus Motorway. It includes the town of Aksakovo and the villages of Ignatievo, Slanchevo, Pripek and Dobrogled. According to the evaluation of both Bulgarian and foreign investors, these are among the best places for business not only in Bulgaria but also in Europe.
The second attractive economic region is close to the Black sea coast and encompasses the territories of the villages of Kichevo, General Kantardzhievo, Oreshak, Kumanovo and Osenovo. Holiday villages, golf courses, residential complexes of closed type are being built there.
The third region encompasses the settlements above the town of Aksakovo – Izvorsko, Lyuben Karavelovo, Krumovo, Zornitsa, Zasmyano, Botevo, Novakovo. Here, mainly the sub-branches of agriculture such as crop growing and livestock breeding are developed.
The newest and most ambitious project of Aksakovo municipality is the building of Varna-Aksakovo Business Area.
The area will encompass 10,000 decares with first-class infrastructure for the development of highly technological enterprises situated between the Varna Airport Complex, the town of Aksakovo and Ignatievo and the village of Slanchevo. The territory is being designed as the largest industrial zone in Bulgaria corresponding to the highest business standards. Is logistics security is unprecedented – with its proximity to Hemus motorway, with the existing road junction to the village of Slanchevo and the started procedure for building the second road junction - to the town of Ignatievo, the old road Varna-Sofia, the port complexes – Varna West and Varna East, as well as the Ferry Complex in the town of Beloslav. The valley terrain is suitable for industrial construction; through its territory the main water mains are passing along with high-voltage transmission line and gas supply line.
For the perfect access to the largest Industrial area, the construction of a metro is envisaged, which will provide fast and environmentally friendly connection between Golden Sands resort complex and the Industrial area.
Along the route of the hgh-speed railway, which will start from Golden Sands and pass through the St. St. Constantine & Helena resort and the city of Varna, 4 stops are envisaged on the municipality territory – airport complex, town of Aksakovo, town of Ignatievo, Stone Desert natural phenomenon /Pobiti Kamani/.
The modern railway will be a transport to service the business, tourists, citizens, creating a route between the Golden Sands resort, the industrial area and the Stone Desert natural phenomenon/.
TOURISM
Aksakovo municipality is developing various forms of rural, hunting, fishing, sports, pedestrian, cycling, ecotourism, spa, pilgrimage, route-cognitive, recreation, cultural, adventurous, religious, golf, wine tourism, thematic parks, places to observe wild animals and birds and other types of tourism.
The region is abundant in opportunities for the so-called modern luxury – clean food, tranquillity and beautiful nature. Just a step away from Aksakovo are the natural phenomenon Stone Desert and the protected area “Batova”. The picturesque territories within the lands pf Aksakovo municipality are rich in places suitable for rural, hunting and sports tourism. For lovers of adrenaline, there are routes developed for off-road and jeep safari. In proximity to the villages of Lyuben Karavelovo, Botevo, Zasmyano, Krumovo and Osenovo on the municipality territory are some of the largest and most beautiful dams. The non-industrial part of the municipality of Aksakovo borders the picturesque beeches of the village of Kranevo.
The cultural calendar is a temptation for Bulgarian and foreign guests with its unique traditional festivals of authentic folklore and the villages around are keepers of spiritual and religious values in their renovated and welcoming community centres and orthodox temples.
Parts of the Natural Park “Golden Sands”, Natural Park “Stone Desert” and “Batova” locality fall within the territory of Aksakovo municipality.
SPORTS
A number of sports clubs are functioning in Aksakovo municipality: Aksakovo Football Club included in the “В”-Republican Football League; Atlanta-Aksakovo Basketball Club, which takes an active part in the zonal championships; wrestling, athletics and volleyball clubs. A motorcycling track has been built and a motocross club has been established.
In 2018, the first of their kind in Bulgaria “Olympic Games” for seniors took place in Aksakovo. The seniors in the municipality centre enjoy conditions provided for their sports activities twice a week and they traditionally compete in Olympic disciplines each year.
The town stadium in Aksakovo is among the most attractive sports facilities in the district – with modern flooring and irrigation system. A modern training mini-football course was built in the complex, as a result of the partnership with the Bulgarian Football Union.
COMMUNICATIONS AND IT TECHNOLOGIES
Bulgaria has always been among the leaders in development of IT technologies and internet speed.
The proximity to the city of Varna provides conditions for preparation of staff in the IT field as well as for provision of infrastructure for internet in compliance with modern technologies.
Aksakovo municipality is among the first municipalities in Bulgaria to provide internet access to public places through the initiative of the European Commission WiFi4EU.
Aksakovo is among the first digital municipalities in the country, offering 100% of its services electronically.
