Just 20 minutes by car from Varna, Osenovo Dam is an attractive destination for anglers and nature lovers all year round. It is located in the village of Osenovo, Aksakovo municipality, just 15 km from Varna. The dam is located along the banks of the Golyamata River, just 17 km from Varna. It can be reached by car, bus or bicycle. The village has good road transport links with the city of Varna and is connected by a regular bus line (No. 28).
The place is worth visiting if only for the beautiful sea sunsets. Situated between the two largest resorts in Northeastern Bulgaria - Albena and Golden Sands, the nearest beach is just a few minutes from the dam.
Due to the perfect location, while you enjoy the tranquility of fishing in the Osenovo Dam, your family can visit some of the nearby tourist attractions - Aladzha Monastery, the Botanical Garden and the Palace in Balchik.
The most frequent visitors to the dam, of course, are fishermen. The dam is the perfect place for amateur and sport fishing. For now, in the waters of "Osenovo" you can catch carp, grass carp, silver carp, crucian carp and rudd.
Depending on the season, the opportunities for catching one or another type of fish change. Both the summer and winter months are suitable for catching grass carp, which is not pretentious, but a real trophy for the fisherman. Its size reaches 32 kg, and its length is more than 1 meter.
From spring to autumn, you can most easily catch carp.
