Church of the Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary (town of Aksakovo)
The church named "Holy Assumption of the Virgin Mary" is located in the center of the town of Aksakovo at 29 Veliko Dimitrov Street. The Aksakovo parish has been independent since 1930. The church was built by immigrants from the White Sea Thrace led by their local priest. In 1932, Father Vasil Dimov began the chronicle of the church. In 1896, the first sod of the church was laid, and in 1906 it was ready for the first liturgy. The church was painted with icons, but over the years the priests painted it themselves and thus covered them under layers of paint. The oldest icons are from an iconostasis from 1900. The altar was made of woodcarving in the village of Oreshak by the Troyan school.
